I Choose Love

In the midst of pain, of war, of brokenness...we choose love. We choose community.

What better way to share this message than through this powerful song, performed here by the Sing for Freedom Choir.

The song was written by Mark A Miller and Lindy Thompson in response to the tragic shootings in Charleston, United States in June 2015. It's a testimony to the power of our commitment to love one another through hardship.

The Sing For Freedom Choir is a remarkable group of people who sing from a shared love of music to reclaim the voice that torture so cruelly tried to silence. Produced by Together Productions, this amazing community is made up of Survivors affiliated with UK charity Freedom from Torture, other refugees and asylum seekers from around the UK, and Londoners who join to sing in solidarity with them.

The Sing For Freedom Choir fought to stay together during the challenges of the pandemic, providing a lifeline at a time where many of the members found the usual services they access cut. Some of them were working on the front line as NHS workers, and many of them did not have access to data and technology at home. Despite this, they managed to make the "I Choose Love" music video as a demonstration of solidarity with survivors everywhere, inspiring resilience at the time of hardship and anxiety.
