Sing For Freedom Choir


The Sing for Freedom Choir unites displaced people with others from across London and around the country who join to sing in solidarity with them. Founded by survivors from the charity Freedom From Torture, it offers members a joyful community of friendship founded in music, and delights audiences with unique and life-enhancing performances. The choir has performed at Milton Court in the Barbican, at the Southbank Chorus festival, at the Tilbury Carnival, the GLA Scoop and Union Chapel, amongst others.


We welcome new members in January, April and September and would love you to join us!

    Thursdays 1215 – 1345 BST during term time (Spring Term Jan - Apr, Summer Term Apr - Jul, Autumn term Sept - Dec) at  Hargrave Hall  in Islington, North London.

    The choir sings a wide range of music from around the world, in different languages. No previous musical experience is necessary.

    The Sing for Freedom Choir is joyful group with a social conscience and a mission to make a difference in the world. They are involved with many wonderful and unique collaborations with artists, musicians and ensembles from all backgrounds and SFF is a founding member of the Singing Our Lives project, as well as regular joint projects with sister choir the Mixed Up Chorus.

    Subscriptions 

      

    The Sing for Freedom Choir is free to anyone who has refugee or asylum seeker status.  


    We invite a termly suggested donation of £100 to other singers which covers the essential costs of running the choir.    


    If you’re under 25,  it’s just a suggested donation of £25 for the full term!  

     

    We offer travel or data expenses to those with refugee or asylum seeker status who would otherwise be unable to attend rehearsals.   


    We aim to be an inclusive group and operate a concessions scheme to subsidise places where possible for members who would not otherwise be able to attend due to financial barriers. To find out more about our concession rates, please message us.
