Nowruz is the 6th song to have been written as part of the Singing Our Lives project, which brings singers and musicians from refugee, asylum seeker and local UK backgrounds together to compose and perform new music.

The song was collaboratively composed during a series of workshops in 2020 led by composer Mike Roberts and Librettist Tess Berry-Hart. The libretto was influenced by the writings of Sara Shamsavari and an original extract from a Farsi New Year poem by Seddiq Amaee, translated by Sara and Farzad Shamsavari.

Nowruz is performed by the Mixed Up Chorus and the Sing for Freedom Choir and features special guests the King's Singers and additional soloist Gustav Pickering.

Together Productions was delighted to be chosen as Finding Harmony Ambassadors by the King’s Singers in 2020-2021. Nowruz is one of a number of collaborations that resulted with them.
