Marsha Ashley
Producer, Together Create
I am a freelance artist and colouring book author with a deep passion for creativity and the healing power of art. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to dedicate my life fully to creative practice and to using art as a tool for wellbeing, connection, and hope.
I hold a degree in Graphic Design and am currently studying for a Master’s degree in Art Psychotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire. Alongside my creative work, I have over 15 years of experience as a community leader through my role as the wife of a Minister of Religion. I also bring a broad range of frontline community experience, having worked in roles including pharmacy assistant and personal care assistant in London.
After moving to Essex, I began working as a freelance artist, leading inclusive art workshops for adults with neurodiversity and physical disabilities through Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions. I also became Project Lead for the 180 Project at Community Church, a ministry supporting people seeking sanctuary and a sense of belonging in Thurrock.
It was through this work that I met Alexandra Godfree, who shared her creative vision for Together Create. We went on to co-produce art workshops with the community, culminating in a pop-up gallery showcasing the work created by participants. When the opportunity came to work with Together Create as a freelance artist and Producer, I was filled with joy. It felt like an answer to prayer to do what I love most - creating with community and witnessing the powerful, healing impact of art.
Favourite Together Productions moment:
Seeing people from different backgrounds, cultures, ages, and faiths creating together with joy. Watching participants arrive feeling shy or unsure, then seeing their confidence grow as they discover new skills or reconnect with creativity they haven’t explored for years. To witness hope restored, play returning, and moments of calm amid the pressures of daily life is deeply moving. That is what Together Create offers the community, and I am so grateful to be part of that journey.
